Sneek Peak #2 of Shabby Cottage Girls Room

We have been busy all week long working on Lake and Vallie's bedrooms. I wanted to share this ugly foot board I picked up at the dump. It has a little door that opens too, kinda fun, I thought I could make it into a headboard for my daughter's room. I added some wood decals and a glass door knob as well.
Of course she needed a "V" mounted on the door. The V is a the same color as the focal wall, a very pale pink. When you open the door there will be a scene painted, it will make for good bedtime stories. I made the pale pink paint with some leftover white I had from long ago and added some red craft paint until it was a pale pink.

A very shabby cottage headboard for next to nothing. I will post the entire room soon, I am still working on the accents and fine details, I can't wait for Vallie to see it! Lake's room has the theme of hockey and fishing. My hubby made a very cool magnetic board for his room last night, I'll share it soon!

Great Headboard. Did you bolt it directly to the wall or use a cleat? It's seamless and was curious about your method. I'm always concerned that things like this will pop off the wall when kids get to rough housing. This is such a great idea for repurposing.

Love that headboard. And it will be so cute with the scene behind the door. Every girl in her class will be wanting a headboard like that too.

Cute idea. The door is adorable - wonder what she'll put behind it. I assume it still opens.

I hope you'll swing by AtticMag to tour my home.

So fun! The door would be a great place to hide a little love letter behind!
